If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, love the outdoors and are an adult, you no doubt already know something about Lake Lewisville, the party lake capital of the world! But, in case not, let’s discover this amazing outdoor party recreation extravaganza together!
Calm as it may seem, Lake Lewisville near Dallas/Fort Worth, is one of the largest lakes in Texas; and one of Texas’ busiest! It covers more than 29,000 acres and features more than 230 miles of shoreline for the public to enjoy. This lake was definitely created for recreation, and there is a lot of that available on all parts of the lake. It’s a great place for swimming, fishing and recreational boating, but there are also several nice beaches and campgrounds surrounding Lake Lewisville, as well as a large network of hiking and biking trails, and a couple of nearby golf courses.
The fishing on Lake Lewisville is nothing short of spectacular. The lake has been called the “Urban Bass Fishing Capital of Texas” based on both the abundance and variety of fish in Lewisville Lake. Among the most popular on Lake Lewisville includes large-mouth bass, crappie, catfish, white bass, and spectacular hybrid white striped bass.
One of the most popular things to do around Lake Lewisville is to party and one of the most popular places to do that is a small area near Westlake Park, which is located near the center of the lake, aptly named Party Cove.
Party Cove is so named because this is where people from the DFW area and beyond gather on weekend nights, tie their boats together and listen to party music of all types. Of course, there is plenty of alcohol, but everyone has a great time swimming, dancing or just hanging out. The only thing officials ask is that everyone who visits Party Cove wear a life vest while they are on the water and designate a boat operator who isn’t drinking. If you don’t have a boat of your own, it is possible to rent a boat or a party barge nearby.
Another way people at Lake Lewisville choose to party is on the 70-foot party boat owned by Big D Cats. Whether you are just out for the night for a BBQ and beer party, or you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion, they can help. Perhaps you want to have a fine dining experience on the water, or you want to produce the greatest team building experience for you company, this party boat, Chamonix II, may be exactly what you need. Big D Cats runs the Chamonix II 12 months a year and they have agreements with most of the best restaurants and caterers in the area, so they should be able to get you anything you need.
Another popular area of Lake Lewisville is located on the southern end of the lake, near East Hill Park. It is Pier 121 Marina. Equipped with more than 1,000 on-water storage spaces and another 800 dry dock options, it is possible to customize your boating experience in several ways. There are plenty of amenities, including boat lifts, electrical outlets, water hook-ups and decking options. And if you’re hungry or thirsty. The Wet Bar & Grill is available from Wednesday through Sunday for waterside dining and partying. If you don’t have a boat, Marine Max also offers boat sales at Pier 121 Marina.
Westlake Park is one of the largest and most accessible parks along Lake Lewisville and it is the one featuring the most spectacular views of both Lake Lewisville and the Lake Lewisville bridge. There is a lot to do in this park, including swimming, fishing, picnicking and relaxing. There are also several pavilions in the park available for rent, to accommodate larger gatherings.
